Well I've had one of those moments, it can sometimes take a day of being totally out of it, then coffee, and a long shower to trigger them, but i managed one, a realisation.
Like Sir Powell has mention in the past, you've got to look for information, we've got a brief situation to absorb all we want, but so far I don’t feel like I have!
Was chatting to Mike of the Kelly, and we were wondering about the time we have, how at the moment our efforts are to finishing projects opposed to actually learning.
Too caught up in deadlines to fully play, and I don’t mean "Play" in the stupid variety, I mean the creative play that we as artists do!
I’m envious of the 3rd years time scale last year, think it was 12 weeks or so for the self portrait? I may be wrong, but it was definitely longer that 3 weeks :P
I understand the reasoning’s of it not being that long this time round, but just the thought of all the possible fun that we could of had, learnt rigging to a fair degree, different variants, endless possibilities, I personally was looking forward to making a variety of me to ride my Pirate Runner vehicle, but the way things panned out, it was a no go.
Interestingly though, I actually want to know how to texture environments properly, I love building things, working things out, but I’m just missing the texturing element of environments, and hey, may even grow to like making trees.........but maybe I shouldn’t go as far as to say that :P
Personally I feel close to being at a level I'm pleased with, I'm nowhere near what I want to be, but close to a standard I would show to people, this is what is fuelling me at the moment, I really need to contact people, start the networking, and so does everyone else, this is the second year after all!!
